This beautiful iconic Greco-Roman building built initially for the Panama Pacific Expo of 1915 is one of my all time favorite landmarks in San Francisco. The scale of the structure is impressive and the grounds are truly lovely with the pond and all the agapanthus or African lilies. This is a studio painting completed from a photograph, which I took on a trip to SF. Yes, I left my heart in San Francisco!

As a child I was always surrounded by intriguing colorful layouts, eye catching compositions, and the smell of paint. My father, a teacher of sign painting for over 25 years, inspired my creativity and imagination at a very young age. My pastimes then involved many forms of art including drawing, painting, scratchboard, wood burning, macramé, needlework, stained glass, and photography. I developed a natural eye for composition, which I apply to my photography and to my current endeavor of painting with watercolor and oil. I truly believe that a great photograph begins with the ability to "see" beyond the norm into the infinite beauty and mystery of the subject matter.
