Placerita Canyon Nature Center offers a wide variety of trails and many opportunities to leave behind the chaos and troubles of the world and daily life. During this time of Covid-19, I found myself on more than one occasion visiting the area to plein air paint. This scene just beckons one to keep following the path and immerse themselves in the peace which nature offers so consistently and graciously.

As a child I was always surrounded by intriguing colorful layouts, eye catching compositions, and the smell of paint. My father, a teacher of sign painting for over 25 years, inspired my creativity and imagination at a very young age. My pastimes then involved many forms of art including drawing, painting, scratchboard, wood burning, macramé, needlework, stained glass, and photography. I developed a natural eye for composition, which I apply to my photography and to my current endeavor of painting with watercolor and oil. I truly believe that a great photograph begins with the ability to "see" beyond the norm into the infinite beauty and mystery of the subject matter.
