This majestic sycamore in all its vibrant fall colors was so glorious to see against the California chaparral and clear skies. There is something so intriguing about a tree of this size where your mind wonders about just how long has it stood here going most unnoticed by the people passing by. I try to encourage people to slow down and stop to see the beauty before us which we so often overlook!

As a child I was always surrounded by intriguing colorful layouts, eye catching compositions, and the smell of paint. My father, a teacher of sign painting for over 25 years, inspired my creativity and imagination at a very young age. My pastimes then involved many forms of art including drawing, painting, scratchboard, wood burning, macramé, needlework, stained glass, and photography. I developed a natural eye for composition, which I apply to my photography and to my current endeavor of painting with watercolor and oil. I truly believe that a great photograph begins with the ability to "see" beyond the norm into the infinite beauty and mystery of the subject matter.
