I love the mystery and sense of possibilities that a simple turn in the road gives you when you are on a trip. The magic of the light dancing over the road and the desert vegetation in the late afternoon on this road leaving Grafton and headed toward Zion really caused me to stop in my tracks and capture the moment.
As a child I was always surrounded by intriguing colorful layouts, eye catching compositions, and the smell of paint. My father, a teacher of sign painting for over 25 years, inspired my creativity and imagination at a very young age. My pastimes then involved many forms of art including drawing, painting, scratchboard, wood burning, macramé, needlework, stained glass, and photography. I developed a natural eye for composition, which I apply to my photography and to my current endeavor of painting with watercolor and oil. I truly believe that a great photograph begins with the ability to "see" beyond the norm into the infinite beauty and mystery of the subject matter.
